GS1 Healthcare GTIN Allocation Rules® ratified and released
In June 2020 the GS1 Healthcare Global Trade Item Numer (GTIN) Allocation Rules were updated with the aim to improve their use regulation, supply chain and point of care applications.
If you are using GS1 as your issuing agency for your UDIs for regulatory purposes or to identify your products in your trading relationships, those are the rules you need to follow when assigning GTINs to your devices, medicines and packaging units.

To accomodate new requirements, new regulations and new business processes that have come up in the last decade since the original Healthcare Global Trade Item Number® (GTIN®) Allocation Rules were developed, the Healthcare GTIN® Allocation Rules have now been adjusted.
In June 2020 the rules were updated, ratified and Release 10.0 was published. The revisions enable companies to better understand the cases where healthcare specific rules apply and make the rules easier to use.
